Polish rally driver Miko Marczyk has set a new Guinness World Record, driving an Audi A6 Sportback E-Tron 831 miles (1,338 km) on a single charge — far exceeding the vehicle’s official WLTP range of 483 miles (777 km).
A Record-Breaking Drive
The record attempt began at 1:55 AM on September 11 in Poland. Marczyk drove along the Vistula River, passing through Krakow, Sandomierz, Warsaw, Torun, and Grudziadz before reaching Hel on the Baltic Sea. He then retraced much of the route, finally running out of battery between Torun and Ciechocinek after more than 45 hours on the road.
The car remained on public roads throughout, traveling through normal traffic including rush-hour conditions. Average temperatures hovered around 15°C (59°F), dropping as low as 7°C (45°F) during the journey.
Marczyk’s achievement builds on his established reputation for efficiency stunts. The same driver previously set a fuel-efficiency record by driving a Skoda Superb diesel 1,759 miles (2,831 km) on one tank, demonstrating a consistent pattern of extracting maximum range from production vehicles through meticulous driving technique.
Extreme Efficiency
Marczyk averaged just 7.09 kWh per 100 km, less than half the A6 Sportback E-Tron’s official combined consumption figure.

Marczyk also shared the usual hypermiling commandments: know the car, use regenerative braking intelligently, keep the tires properly inflated, anticipate traffic, and avoid unnecessary acceleration and braking. In other words, don’t drive an EV like you stole it.
Engineering and Aerodynamics
The Audi itself contributed significantly to the achievement. The A6 Sportback E-Tron has a 0.21 drag coefficient, making it the company’s most aerodynamic production car ever. It also packs a 94.9 kWh battery and can recover up to 220 kW through regenerative braking, handling about 95% of everyday braking events.
Not the Overall EV Record
While Marczyk’s run sets the production car record, it doesn’t surpass the overall EV distance record. That belongs to the TUfast Eco Team, which drove 1,599.27 miles (2,573.79 km) in its lightweight “muc022” prototype in Germany in September 2023.
Still, covering 831 miles in an electric Audi on public roads demonstrates the potential of combining advanced engineering with skilled, efficiency-focused driving.
